DARLINGTON - James N. Riley, 36, of North Augusta, S.C., was arrested on a charge of attempting to obtain a prescription medication by fraud at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, July 18, following an investigation at Family Health of Lafayette County. He was released pending court.

MONROE - On Thursday, July 18:
- Brett Dylan Hutchison, 22, Monroe, was arrested at a home in the 800 block of 28th Avenue on a charge of bail jumping after he called police at 2:51 a.m. to report that his father had kicked him out. Police found that he had been drinking alcohol, in violation of a bond condition that he not consume intoxicants. He was jailed. His bond was set the following day at $1,000, with the conditions that he not drink or go into bars or liquor stores. His has a pre-trial conference Aug. 6.
- A set of keys was reported lost in the 2500 block of 9th Street.
- Possible charges against a 33-year-man were referred to the District Attorney after police responded to multiple calls reporting a fight between the man and his 34-year-old girlfriend in their home in the 300 block of 3rd Street. A neighbor reported at 12:53 a.m. that the couple had been fighting all night. Then at 3:59 a.m., police responded to a 911 caller reporting the man had damaged a vehicle at the same residence. At 12:42 p.m., the girlfriend reported he was having someone else make annoying phone calls to her on his behalf. These are not the first police calls to the home over domestic issues: five days earlier, children in the home got scared from the couple's fighting, left and called for help from a nearby business.
- A bicycle locked up outside Monroe High School was reported damaged at 12:29 p.m.
- A wallet was reported lost at 1:52 p.m., possibly somewhere in the 1000 block of 2nd Street North.
- A dog left in a parked vehicle with the windows rolled up was reported at 3:32 p.m. in the 200 block of 8th Street. The vehicle was gone by the time police arrived.
- A concern over a dog's care was reported at 4:35 p.m. in the 900 block of 11th Street. Police found the dog's living conditions were fine, but the animal wasn't licensed and the owner had no proof of vaccinations. The owner was warned to take care of this.
- A resident of a trailer in the 500 block of West 21st Street reported at 5:08 p.m. that a family member had moved out and left three unwanted cats behind. Police referred the resident to the Green County Humane Society.
- A dog left in a parked vehicle with the windows halfway down was reported at 5:41 p.m. in the Monroe Clinic parking lot. Police advised the dog owner that even when the windows are cracked, it can still get too hot for an animal to be left inside a parked vehicle in this weather.
- A 911 caller reported a dog left in a parked vehicle in the 200 block of 8th Street at 6:46 p.m. The caller left before police arrived, and the vehicle was gone. Police contacted the caller and advised this is not a wise use of 911.
- A resident in the 1400 block of Mansion Drive complained at 6:59 p.m. that a neighbor lets dogs out and the dogs come on the resident's property. The neighbor made a counter complaint about the resident's barking dogs. Police explained animal control laws and advised them to be good neighbors.
- Thefts of lawn ornaments out of residential yards in the 600 block of 28th Avenue and 2700 block of 6th Street were reported between 7 and 9 p.m.
- A 911 caller at 8:52 p.m. reported a 47-year-old female family member was having a prescription drug overdose at a residence in the 2100 block of 19th Avenue. The woman was taken into emergency detention for treatment.
- An allegation of a physical assault that occurred by the Ferris wheel at the Green County fairgrounds was reported at 9:50 p.m.

DARLINGTON - A deputy on patrol found an abandoned vehicle parked partially in the roadway on Rock Road in Kendall Township at 8:40 p.m. Thursday, July 18. After unsuccessful attempts to reach the registered owner, the vehicle was towed.
- Charges are pending from a hit-and-run accident on County D in Wayne Township reported at 11:39 p.m. Thursday, July 18. A 2003 Saturn was southbound when the car swerved across the centerline and sideswiped a trailer on a northbound truck driven by Michael L. Brummel, 55, Argyle. Both vehicles came to a stop in the road, then the female driver and lone occupant of the Saturn fled the scene on foot. The car was extensively damaged and towed. Brummel's truck was undamaged. His trailer sustained moderate damage. Deputies made contact with the registered owner of the Saturn, and a suspect driver was named but not located. The accident remains under investigation.
