Monroe Police
MONROE - On Thursday, Dec. 20:
- Nathan J. Adams, 29, Monroe, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and resisting arrest after police responded at 12:42 a.m. to a report of a vehicle stuck in snow on a curb at the intersection of North 13th Avenue and 3rd Street North. Officers followed tracks in the snow to find the driver, Adams, standing on a residential porch nearby. He was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol, so police took him to the station for a breathalyzer test. Once there, however, he became nauseated and vomited. Police instead took him for a blood draw at Monroe Clinic, where they report Adams became argumentative and physically resistant. He was jailed. No injuries were reported from the accident, and his vehicle was towed. Adams also faces citations for an expired vehicle registration and driving too fast for conditions.
- Timothy D. Stoddard, 44, Monroe, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, battery and criminal damage to property after police responded to a call from a 46-year-old woman at 8:11 p.m. at a home in the 300 block of 27th Street, where she had locked herself in a bathroom. She told police Stoddard came home intoxicated, hit her, threw her cellphone and damaged a window blind and the bathroom doorjamb. Stoddard pleaded not guilty to the charges the next day in Green County Circuit Court. His signature bond is set at $1,000 with the conditions that he not drink or enter establishments where primarily alcohol is sold.
- Staff at Monroe Clinic, 515 22nd Ave., called police at 1:27 a.m. for assistance with an argumentative patient. The man had calmed himself by the time officers arrived.
- A person reported concern at 11:47 a.m. about a dog left out in the elements in the 1900 block of 9th Street. An officer found that even though the animal's food dish was covered with snow, it had access to shelter.
