BELLEVILLE - Paul W. Ryan, age 81, of Belleville passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center in Fitchburg. He was born on May 2, 1927 in Belleville, WI, to his parents, Willard and Bessie (Wallom) Ryan. His stepmother was Norma Heronemus. Paul graduated from Belleville High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a medic in the 122nd MBN of the 42nd Division. Paul married Patricia Burke on April 2, 1954. Later in life he was united in marriage to MaryLou Marty on February 14, 1998. He worked as a painting contractor for many years and was later employed by Klein Dickert. Paul was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville and served on the church council, a Past Master of the New Glarus Masonic Lodge #310, a member of the VFW post #10549, member of the American Legion Post #460, member of the Belleville American Legion Drill Team, and was a retired member of the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department.

Paul is survived by his wife, MaryLou Ryan of Belleville; three sons, Rhett (Carole) Ryan of Woodbury, MN, Todd (Ruth) Ryan of Hudson, MA, and Craig (Sue) Ryan of Cloquet, MN; four stepdaughters, Barbara (Ron) Babler of Belleville, Linda (Carl) Fisher of Oak Park, IL, Carol (Dale) Storm of Coolidge, AZ, and Lori (Randy) Yaun of Albany, WI; 13 grandchildren, Mitch, Tyler, Paul, Jessie, Ellie, Josie, Angela, Doug, Deyonne, Denyse, Paul, Sarah, Gretchen; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Disch of Oregon, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, his first wife Patricia in 1997, sisters Madeline Butts and Lucille Olson, and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 East Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. Heide Walker-Hackman officiating.

Relatives and friends may call from noon until time of service at the First United Church of Christ.

The family suggests memorials be made to HospiceCare, INC. or the First United Church of Christ.
