Paul J. Bouda, 90, of Boca Raton, FL, died March 23, 2011. He was born on January 5, 1921, at Manitowoc, WI, the second of the twin sons to Martha (Sladky) and Frank M. Bouda. His twin brother, Francis, preceded him in death in 1997.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Audrey E. (Thompson) Bouda; 4 children: Brian P. Bouda (Joanne) of Pittsburgh, PA, Elizabeth L. Fisher (William) of Chico, CA, Michael J. Bouda (Jane) of Jacksonville, FL, and Barbara A. Schropp (Russell) of Fort Myers, FL; 10 grandchildren: Christopher, Robert and Timothy Bouda; Alison and Kari Fisher; Jennifer and Paul J. Bouda II; and Stefan, Eric and Emma Schropp; 2 great grandchildren: Grace and Conor Bouda; sister Clare Ann Nordman (James) Madison, WI; sister-in-law Betty Jean (Queerhammer) Bouda and brother-in-law Robert Thompson.
He attended St. Luke School and Washington High School in Two Rivers, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1942 he was inducted into the US Army, serving his entire career with the 14th Tank Bn., 9th Armored Division. His military action included the Battle of the Bulge and the taking of the Ludendorf Bridge at Remagen, Germany. His decorations include a Bronze Star, and Presidential Unit Citations.
Upon his discharge from the army, he married Audrey E. Thompson in 1946. After a business career in Wisconsin, including franchise manager for Swiss Colony, he moved to Jacksonville, FL, in 1973 and to Boca Raton in 1979 to develop and lease shopping centers.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, VFW, American Legion, Elks Lodge and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at St. Joan of Arc, Boca Raton. A graveside service and burial will be on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Pioneer Rest Cemetery in Two Rivers, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association for the continued care of his wife.
