Patrick Joseph Hampton, age 74, of Browntown, WI and Bullhead City, AZ, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, NV, due to complications following heart surgery.

He was born on March 10, 1936 in Bloomington, WI, the son of Charles and Kathryn (Rauch) Hampton. On November 24, 1962, he married Patricia Joyce at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI. They made their home in Browntown, WI, and for the past three winters, enjoyed their residence in Bullhead City, AZ. Patrick was a loving husband and companion to Patricia. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and extremely happy when they visited.

He graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1954, then entered the U.S. Army, having participated in the atomic testing at Camp Desert Rock, NV. He was discharged from the Army in 1956, he then entered U.W. Platteville, where he received a degree in Industrial Technology. He taught Industrial Arts at Monroe Jr. High School, and also farmed in the Browntown area. He was a member of the Browntown Fire Department and also served as Browntown Village President. Pat was a lifetime member of the Bloomington Council #4416 of Knights of Columbus. He was on the founding board of the Green County Family Y.M.C.A.. His greatest and proudest moments were spent with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing blackjack, telling stories and the warmth of the Arizona sun.

He is survived by his wife Patricia; son, Charles (Chris) Hampton of Cambridge, WI, their children, Katie, Chad and Allison; daughters, Jennifer (Bruce) Bowman of Loveland, CO, and their children, Sarah, Nick, Laura and Joe, and Ann Hampton of De Forest, WI and her daughter, Hannah Ewings. Also surviving are two brothers, Larry (Jeanne) Hampton of Orlando, FL, Neil (Jean) Hampton of Bloomington, WI; a sister-in-law, Emma Hampton of Lancaster, WI; brothers-in-law, Jim Krogman of Cassville, WI and Dayle Meyer of Bloomington, WI.

In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy, in 1987 and grandson Adam Hampton in 1994; three brothers, Bob, Bernard and Paul Hampton; six sisters, Ann Johll, Donna Grass, Mary Krogman, Ruth Patterson, Jane Meyer and Rachel Barr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Victor Catholic Church, 1760 - 14th St., Monroe, with Celebrant, Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr. & 18th Ave., Monroe, with a Rosary being read at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Victor Catholic School in Patrick's memory.
