Parking to be limited, marked for homecoming

MONTICELLO - Monticello Police Department want to remind people who attend the Monticello Homecoming Festivities on July 11 through July 14 of the posted temporary and no parking zones.

The municipal parking lot will be open for general parking. Parking is limited and will be marked accordingly for enforcement.

No parking zones are necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians and visitors of the homecoming festival. Posted temporary and no parking zones include the following.

• West Lake Avenue (County F) from Main Street/Wisconsin 69 N. will be closed at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13 during the fireworks display. The rain delay will be on Sunday night.

• The west side of North Avenue (Kennedy Street), by the swimming pool, will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13 for the Kids Pedal Tractor pulling, and for the local water fights starting at 2 p.m.

• North Monroe Street from North Avenue northward to Gempeler Market north alley way will be closed down from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 13 for the MC. Pride Ride parking of motorcycles only on their return trip at 5 p.m. No other vehicles will be allowed to park in this area during this temporary closing.

• The parade route will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 14. East Lake Avenue (County F) from Adams Road West and North Main Street will be closed to all parking; it will reopen after the parade. All parade units will line-up at the far east side of Lake Street, the Industrial Park area, and will end there.

The police department reminds those who attend the events that all alcoholic beverages must be consumed within the licensed establishments and permitted areas of the park only. Those found to be consuming or possessing alcohol outside of those areas will be cited.
