Nellie L. Berget, age 100, of Argyle, WI, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb, WI. She was born September 12, 1911, in Cadiz Township in Green County, WI, the daughter of George and Alice (Good) Lawver. Nellie graduated from Monroe High School in 1930. She continued her education and received her Teaching Degree from Green County Normal School in 1931. Nellie taught for four years at the Franklin and Rush rural schools. She was united in marriage to R. Kaspar Berget on June 6, 1935, in Browntown, WI. Following her marriage she helped Kaspar at Berget's Jewelry Store in Argyle until their retirement in 1976. Nellie also worked as an Assistant Librarian at Argyle High School for a number of years. In March of 2003, she moved to Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Darlington and to Ingleside Nursing Home in Mount Horeb in 2009.
Nellie is survived by two children: Judith (Philip) Olson of Belgium, WI, and Kaspar Berget of Santa Fe, NM; seven grandchildren: Cheryl Olson of Denver, CO, Eric (Susan) Olson of Appleton, WI, Kristofer (Nancy) Olson of Appleton, WI, Laura (Lennart) Moche of Centennial, CO, Cris (Sharon) Berget of Lampasa, TX, Marc (Laura) Berget of Redondo Beach, CA, Andrew (Stacey) Berget of Broomfield, CO; 13 great-grandchildren: Duncan, Tyler, Whitney, and Hunter Berget, Kylie and Cameron Berget, Aiden, Riley, and Charlie Olson, Noah, Caleb, and Peter Olson, and Axel Moche; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters: Mabel Yeagle of Dakota, IL, and Catherine Gissing of Brodhead, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Kasper on April 2, 1994; two sisters: Irene Siedschlag and Frances Babler; and five brothers: Alfred, Robert, Harold, George, and Glen Lawver.
Nellie was a member of Argyle Lutheran Church and was very active in its Women of ELCA and the church quilting group. She was also an active 4-H Leader when her children were young. Nellie was also a member of Argyle Women's Club and Homemakers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Argyle Lutheran Church, 100 East Street in Argyle with Rev. Larry Pinnow officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at church.
