Mildred "Millie" (Shelton) Trujillo, age 92 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Millie was born on a farm located on the Wisconsin-Illinois State Line Road on November 4, 1916 to Clarence and Hulda (Boss) Shelton. She married Ivan Boyer in January of 1935. In October, 1968, she married Raymond Trujillo.
Millie was a graduate of Monroe High School and received a Business Management degree from MATC. She worked as Assistant Comptroller and Director of Patient Accounts for thirty years at St. Clare Hospital. In 1971, she was elected to the Board of Directors to the State Office of the Wisconsin Medical Credit Association and received "Woman of the year in Hospital Credit" from that group.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ serving on the church council for six years, and also served on the liaison committee to Garden Apartments. For many years she served on the Commission On Aging for Green County. Millie enjoyed classical music, reading, and playing cards, especially bridge. During the 1950's she was an avid bowler and treasured the fun she had with her bowling team friends. She was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan following most all of the major sports on television. She will be remembered for her abundant kindness toward others, her quick wit, loyalty, fairness, generosity, and especially her love and devotion for her family.
She is survived by two children: Janeen (David) Babler of Monroe, WI, and Jerry (Carol) Boyer of Spearfish, S.D.; two grandchildren: Scott (Valerie) Quehl of Philadelphia, PA, and Rev. Catherine (Craig) Quehl-Engel of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; two great grandchildren: Rachel Engel and Mark Quehl; two sisters: Dorothy Pipple of Rockford, IL, and Louroe (Alden) Fogo of San Louis Obispo, CA; also numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Trujillo; and one sister, Joan Yurich.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1724-14th St., Monroe, with the Rev. William "Mike" Heath and the Rev. Catherine Quehl-Engel officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund is being established in Millie's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
