Mildred A. Gruenewald, age 89, of rural Monroe, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on January 23, 1929 in Janesville, the daughter of James and Mary Ann (Cochrane) Locast. Mildred graduated from Janesville High School in 1947.

Mildred and Norman Gruenewald were united in marriage on January 30, 1949 at St. John's United Church of Christ.

She was employed with Huff Shade Corporation in her younger years. She later farmed with her husband on the family farm.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and cooking and baking were her passion.

Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Norman of rural Monroe; son, Richard Gruenewald of Juda; daughter, Diane Gruenewald of Janesville; grandchildren: Kay (Sam) Huffman, Daniel (Emily) Gruenewald and Briana Gruenewald; great-grandchildren: Sean, Dane, Sophie and Ali.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law, Nancy Gruenewald; brothers, Francis, Jamesie, and Vincent; her twin brother, Johnnie; and sister, Mary Wyssman.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral home with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be, Monday, April 2nd from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial fund is being established in Mildred's memory.
