Michael "Mike" H. Hughes
Michael "Mike" H. Hughes, age 71 of Monroe, died on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on November 17, 1939 in Darlington, the son of Maurice and Rosalie (Miller) Hughes. Michael and Judy Kammerud were married on September 21, 1963 at St. Victor Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed his work at the Green County Highway Department, working there for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church and of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #754. Mike enjoyed being with his family but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Hughes; his children, Dennis (Shelley) Hughes, Randy (Cheryl) Hughes, Melissa (Steve) Jaeggi; grandchildren, Trinity and Hillary, Megan and Ben, Michael and Molly; great grandchildren, Jolie and Tylee; brothers, Joseph (Betty) Hughes, Charles (Yvonne) Hughes, Maurice (Kay) Hughes; sisters, Mary Maurer, Margie Marti, Barbara Murphy, Pat (Norm) Grunder, Ellen (Joe) Milz, also several nieces and nephews. Mike is predeceased by his parents and sister, Helena Bregenzer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Victor Catholic Church, with Celebrant Fr. Michael E. Klarer. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Monday, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
