NEW GLARUS - Melvin Walter Fuchs, age 81, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on May 7, 1935 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison to his parents Walter and Katherine (Waelti) Fuchs. Melvin graduated from New Glarus High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. On November 29, 1958 he was united in marriage to Rose Kiechle. Melvin worked for Briggs Transportation in Monroe and retired in 1988. He was a member of the St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe.

Melvin is survived by his sons Kurt Fuchs, Scott (Sara) Fuchs, and Chris Fuchs, granddaughters Cecile and Samantha Fuchs. He is further survived by his brothers Harland (Eileen) Fuchs and Ronald (Jolene) Fuchs and sister Esther (Lester) Stephens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law George and Bonnie Fuchs, and sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Frank Herlein.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Michael Moon officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery, New Glarus, WI.

Relatives and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the New Glarus Home, Monroe Clinic Hospice, and Drs. Gedden, Richardson, and Stuart for their kind and compassionate care of Melvin.
