Mary M. Stietz age 70 of Argyle, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. She was born on April 22, 1942 in Milton Junction, Wisconsin the daughter of Harley and Edna (Zimbrick) Guernsey and graduated from Milton Union High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Janesville. Mary and LeRoy Stietz were married on May 23, 1964 in Milton, Wisconsin. Mary farmed with her husband and also worked at the New Glarus Nursing Home until November 2012.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gratiot. She enjoyed gambling, reading, gardening, and following sports: the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Chicago Cubs and golf. Most of all, Mary enjoyed spending time with family.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel (P.J.) Stietz of Dover, MN; Thomas (Dawn) Stietz of Port Washington; daughter, Diane (Kenneth Jr.) Frei of Monroe; brothers, Tony (Rita) Guernsey of Janesville, Kenneth (Traci) Guernsey of New Haven, IN; Edward (Sherry Bagby) Guernsey of Vienna, IL; sisters, Barbara (John) Kilpatrick of Spencerville, IN; Linda (Tom) Depew of Fort Wayne, IN; Roberta (Jere) Nelson of Edgerton; grandchildren: Nic Manzanares, Matthew & Kathryn Stietz, Chelsea & Ryan Stietz, Kendra Frei & Karen (Mason) Barber; great-grandchildren Maddie and Garrett Barber. Mary was also survived by her second family, which is the staff and residents of the New Glarus Nursing Home.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Harley and Edna Guernsey, and husband, LeRoy.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home in Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gratiot with Fr. John Bosco Pudhota celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic

Cemetery rural Gratiot. A memorial fund will be established in Mary's name.

She will be dearly missed by her family and those that she touched.
