Mary Alice "Bette" Rockow (nee Ritter) left us quietly just after sunrise on May 18, 2012 at the age of 89. Lover of people, animals, fun and mischief until her very last days when a stroke forced her to rethink her new year's resolution to "live another year."

Bette grew up in Monroe and lived her married life in Browntown. She moved to Milwaukee later in life to keep an eye on her children and make sure their dishes were done.

Preceded in death by husband Leon, son Randall, brothers Russell, Paul and Stanley Ritter, sisters Doris Maas, Evelyn Hunter and Helen Davis. Survived by her daughters Carol (Rory Drezdon), Joette and by her sister-in-law and friend since childhood Clara Ritter. Bette will be missed by her grandcats Libby, MacArthur and Trixie, her many friends and other surviving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to share their fond memories on Saturday, June 9, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Monroe from 4-6 p.m., concluding in a short service. In remembering Bette, show kindness, have fun in this life, and consider a donation to the Green County Humane Society.
