Martha E. Schuetz, age 92 of Monroe, died on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Martha, the daughter of Sebastian and Martha (Segessenmann) Laeser, was born in Albany on December 27, 1916. Martha married Walter H. Schuetz on December 7, 1935.
Martha and her late husband, Walter, lived on the Schuetz family farm in Jordan Township for over 70 years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, her violets and playing cards. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe.
She is survived by her children: Allen (Joan) Schuetz of Baltimore, MD; Joan (Wesley) Roscoe of Madison, WI; Judith (Jack) Reed of Stevens Point, WI; Kenneth (Claire) Schuetz of Middleton, WI; Jean (James) Schiller of Verona, WI ; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; sister, Margaret Sickinger; brothers, Walter Laeser and Sebastian Laeser Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Gretchen Sylvester, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established for St. John's United Church of Christ and St. Clare Friedensheim assisted Living in Martha's memory.
