MONTICELLO - Mark Daniel Barrett, age 52, of Monticello passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 21, 1961 in Monroe, WI to his parents Del and Marleah (Prien) Barrett. Dan graduated from Monroe High School in 1980 and then graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Turf and Soil Science in 1986. On August 22, 1987 he was united in marriage to Sherri Treuthardt. Dan had been the golf course superintendent at The Legend at Bergamont in Oregon, WI during and since its construction in 2003. He had previously been the golf course superintendent at Trout Lake Golf and Country Club at Arbor Vitae, WI from 1988 to 2003 and assistant golf course superintendent at the Nakoma Golf Club. Dan was a member and past president of the Wisconsin Turfgrass Association and the Northern Great Lakes Golf Course Superintendents Association, member of the Wisconsin Golf Course Superintendents Association, and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. The golf course was an important part of Dan's life, he enjoyed seeing the morning sunrise and the beauty of the outdoors. Along with his work and golf he loved his animal companions.

Dan is survived by his wife Sherri, mother Marleah, beloved dog Molly, the cat he never really wanted but grew to love Luna; brothers, David (Peggy) Barrett, Paul (Susan) Barrett, and James (Julie) Barrett, mother-in-law Gloria Treuthardt, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mark (Sue) Langbehn, Robert (Heidi) Treuthardt Jr., and Paul (Julie) Treuthardt, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Del and father-in-law Robert Treuthardt Sr.

A celebration of life and open house will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Legend at Bergamont, 699 Bergamont Blvd., Oregon, WI 53575.

A memorial fund has been established.
