Marian Burkhardt age 80 of Monroe, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at her home.

Marian was born December 24, 1931 in Primrose Township, Dane County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ulrich and Bertha (Burgunder) Burkhardt. She graduated from Monroe High School and worked for United Telephone Company for 45 years.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Swiss Club, was actively involved in Turner Hall where she served on the board from 2003-2006, and was a proud member of the Swiss Singers serving as Secretary for the 1976 National Songfest. Marian volunteered at the National Historic Cheesemaking Center and was instrumental in bringing "Honey Belle" the cow to its front lawn.

She is survived by two cousins, Betty (Kerry) Schuerch Kimura of Eagle River, Alaska and Mary (Bruce) Schuerch Smith of Huntington, Indiana. She is further survived by her two beloved dogs, Lady and Sandy.

Private family graveside services will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Memorials may be given in Marian's name to the Green County Humane Society. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. To share a memory and sign the guest book go to www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
