BRODHEAD - Marcia K. Caldwell, age 71, of Brodhead, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. She was born on July 20, 1938 in Fairfield, IA, the daughter of Wayne and Madge (Harper) McIntire. She married James A. Caldwell on October 7, 1962 in Fairfield, IA.
Marcia was an elementary school teacher, having started her career in Beloit and coming to Brodhead, where she retired in 2000. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School and Parsons College in Iowa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, Retired Educators Association, and Red-Hatters. She was involved with Green County Relay for Life and a volunteer for Reach for Recovery. She belonged to the Monday Night Bowling League, loved volleyball, reading, crafts, and especially her grandchildren.
Marcia is survived by her husband, James; three children, Brian (Michele) Caldwell, Plover, WI, Lisa Caldwell, Oregon, WI, Leslie (Tom) Weber, Wonewoc, WI; two brothers, Jack (Maggie) McIntire, Greensboro, NC, Bruce McIntire, Davenport, IA; a sister, Judy Randolth, Fairfax, VA; a brother-in-law, Bob (Terri) Goehring, Monticello, WI; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jerry and Alan McIntire; and three sisters, Shirley and Sandra in their youth, and Patricia Goehring.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Rev. Steve Groves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, and from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church on Tuesday. A memorial fund will be established.
