MONROE - A report of a stolen handgun in Lafayette County led to a "high-risk" traffic stop and the arrest of a Monroe man on the far west side of Monroe Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Dustin A. Boeck, 29, was jailed on an apprehension request from the Department of Corrections, according to a news release from Chief of Police Fred Kelley.

Boeck was an occupant in the stopped vehicle.

Monroe officers were put on alert at about 4 p.m. of a vehicle wanted in connection with a stolen firearm investigation in Lafayette County.

About a half hour later, a Monroe officer spotted the vehicle in the 400 block of 10th 1/2 Street, behind the old Walmart building.

Seven squad cars, including three with the Green County Sheriff's Department, assisted in the traffic stop. A sergeant on scene described it as a "high-risk" stop because of the firearm investigation.

A passenger identified as David L. Kunitti, 32, no permanent address given, was cited for having open intoxicants in the car.

The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department was still investigating the firearm theft early Wednesday evening and had no information yet on charges in the case.
