Mable J. Lewis age 86 of Browntown, WI, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. She was born June 26, 1931 in Green County, WI, the daughter of Carl and Ella (Feldt) Siedschlag. Mable graduated from Monroe High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to M. John Lewis on February 23, 1949 at Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe, WI. Mable lived in Monroe until moving to their farm outside of Browntown in 1972. She worked at Swiss Colony in Monroe for 25 years until her retirement in 1989. Mable also did some child care from her home.

Mable is survived by four children: Robert (Cindy) Lewis of West Richland, WA, Cathy Hartwig of Englewood, FL, William (Karene) Lewis of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Richard (Martha) Lewis of Woodford, WI; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; One great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law: Evelyn Siedschlag of Monroe, Jeanette Zee of Darlington, WI, and Shirley (John) Kummer of Monticello, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, M. John Lewis in 2004; two brothers: Glen Siedschlag and Ralph Siedschlag; one sister: Gladys Gerber; and three brothers-in-law: Clifford Zee, David Putnam and Leo Gerber. Two sister-in-laws: Zelda Siedschlag and Darlene Putnam.

Mable attended Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown. She was a member of African Violet Club. Mable enjoyed farming with her husband, canning various vegetables and fruits especially peaches and black caps. She took great pride in her gardening and flower beds. Mable loved animals; she raised chickens, cattle, horses and the occasional goose. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting and counted cross stich. In Mable's later years she found peace of mind attending bible study at Twining Valley retirement community in Monroe.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 1:00PM at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace (GPS Users: 801 East Milwaukee Street) in Argyle with Rev. Dan Bohlman Argyle Lutheran Church officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 11:00am until the time of service. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. The Erickson Funeral Home of Argyle is assisting the family. The family would like to thank Monroe Hospice for their special love and care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Mable's name.
