Lynn S. Mitchell, age 64, of Verona, died on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on September 27, 1949 in Monroe the daughter of Gordon and Betty (DeNure) Johnson. She was a 1967 graduate of South Wayne High School and a 1970 graduate of MATC with a degree in business. She was a cheerleader at both schools. Lynn and Matthew Mitchell were married on November 22, 1971 at the West Wiota Lutheran Church.

After graduation, Lynn worked for several years at the Madison Public Library and then worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 36 years. Lynn enjoyed traveling with her family especially to the Caribbean. Her interests included gardening, flower arranging, picture framing and reading. She and her son Ryan, attended all the home Badger Football games. The two also treasured their Monday night dinners out. Lynn was also proud of the fact that she could type 125 words a minute back in her prime.

She is survived by her husband, Matt Mitchell of Verona; son, Ryan Mitchell of Verona; mother, Betty Johnson of Wiota; brothers, Jim (Kathy) Johnson of Wiota, Jerry Johnson of Stoughton; brothers-in-law, Don Milz of Monroe, Mark (Carol) Mitchell of DePere, John Mitchell of Browntown; sister-in-law, Mary Schliem of Platteville. She was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Gordon; sister, Joan Milz and sister-in-law, Sally Mitchell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr. and 18th Ave., with Rev. Luke Smetters officiating. Family burial will be in the West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery, Gratiot Township, LaFayette Co. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at Noon at the Funeral Home.
