Lorraine A. Tollakson, age 84, of rural Argyle, WI, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in rural Monroe, WI. She was born November 21, 1928 in Monroe the daughter of Edwin and Rose (Walters) Friedli. Lorraine graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. She grew up in rural Monroe on the family farm in Clarno Township. Lorraine was united in marriage to Victor Svendsen on October 14, 1946 in Monroe where they farmed in Green County for a number of years. He preceded her in death in 2008. Lorraine also worked as a hostess at Dutch's Inn in Monroe and later at Kundert-Loeffel Shoe Store in Monroe for 16 years. She was united in marriage to Jerome Tollakson on March 8, 1980 in Monroe. Lorraine continued to work at the shoe store and found great joy in helping Jerome on their farm on Puddledock Road in rural Argyle.
Lorraine is survived by her husband: Jerome at home; six children: Vicki (Jim) Banovsky of Cambridge, WI, David Svendsen of rural Monticello, WI, Diana (Tom) Bonk of rural Monticello, John Svendsen of rural Argyle, Mark (Lila) Svendsen of rural Monticello, and Lori (David Larson) Voegeli of Monroe; four stepchildren: Leonard (Terry) Tollakson of Helena, MT, Kurt (Theresa) Tollakson of Argyle, Steven (Mary) Tollakson of Mahomet, IL, and Todd (Jennifer) Tollakson of Elgin, IL; 17 grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-stepgrandchildren; and three sisters: Rose Babler of Monroe, Mary Ames of Loves Park, IL, and Barbara (Jim) Kirkland of Clearwater, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter: Corina Burton in 2005; one great-grandson: Austin Blum in 2012; four brothers: Edgar, Robert, Anthony, and Raymond Friedli; and one sister: Betty Scheider.
Lorraine was a member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church, its Women's Missionary Federation, and was active in the Tuesday morning Bible Studies. She served as Dougherty Creek 4-H Leader and as a past Sunday School Teacher. Lorraine was a charter member of NFO and served on the Board of Directors for Ag Price. She loved spending time with her family, and watching the birds at the feeder and the deer roam around the farm. Lorraine was also an avid NASCAR fan. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, 1540 Old Highway 81 in rural Argyle with Rev. Ron Brubakken officiating. Burial will be in Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Lutheran Church and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
