Lorna R. Sullivan, age 93 of Monroe, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Lorna was born February 15, 1918 in Boston, MA, the daughter of Vashni M. and Mina L. (Emery) Marchant of Monroe. She married Arthur L. Sullivan Jr. on May 31, 1942 in Boston. She had resided in Monroe since January 2000. Lorna graduated from the High School of Classical Arts, West Roxbury, MA and then received her college degree from Massachusetts School of Arts in Boston. While raising a family and caring for her home she was also a part time seamstress.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur L. (Linda) Sullivan III of Monroe, and David R. Sullivan of NH; three grandchildren, Arthur L. (Carolyn) Sullivan IV, John A. (Krystal) Sullivan, and Alaina M. (Christopher) Coyle all of Monroe; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Sullivan Jr.; a son, Stephen G. Sullivan; a grandson, Jeffrey R. Sullivan; a brother, Mason E. Marchant; and a sister, Dorothy L. Nolan.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with David Hauser, an elder of the Monroe Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, June 13, at the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, Oakley. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services. A luncheon will be held following the service at the Monroe American Legion Post #84.
