Lois A. Ackerman, 85 of Monroe, died peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2012 at her home.
Lois was born in Monroe on November 17, 1926 to George and Tessie (Kundert) Pick. She lived her entire life on the Pick family farm in Jefferson Township. Lois attended Ball Rural School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1944.
She married Lloyd H. Ackerman on December 10, 1944 at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe. They farmed together until Lloyds death on March 20, 2006. Lois was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Twin Grove Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her sister, Georgia Zimmerman; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Ackerman and Marian Ackerman, all of Monroe; cousins, Arlene Johnson of Janesville and Bill (Shirley) Pick of Cedarville, IL; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Fiola.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A celebration of Lois Ackerman's life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe. Reverend John Tabaka will officiate with a meal to follow in the church fellowship hall. Private family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in her name to the Green County Humane Society. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
