Green County Sheriff

On November 8:

● At 5:47 p.m., Deputies responded to the W6500 block of Legler Valley Road, in the Town of New Glarus for the report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Shane W. Reinicke, 44 of Blanchardville had attempted to turn around when he backed through a fence in the south ditch. Reinicke reported non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The vehicle sustained minor damage and the airbags did not deploy. Investigation resulted in Reinicke being arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (1st-Alcohol). Reinicke was further cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control. Reinicke was released pending court.

● At 7:36 p.m., Deputies responded to the N3700 block of County Highway J, in the Town of Monroe, for the report of a vehicle versus cow crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Bradley D. Stewart, 53 of Monroe was traveling southbound when a cow entered the roadway and collided with his vehicle. Stewart reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene.

On November 10:

● At approximately 11:49 p.m., Deputies stopped to check on a vehicle with it’s hazards on in the N3600 block of State Highway 59. Investigation resulted in the operator, Shawn S. Francis, 30 of Monroe, being placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence of Alcohol — 1st Offense. Shawn was also cited for Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration, Open Intoxicants, and Expired Registration. Shawn was released to a responsible party with a future court date.

On November 16:

● At approximately 12:16 a.m., Deputies responded to the N7800 block of Gould Hill Rd., Town of York, for a single vehicle crash with possible injury. Investigation determined the operator, Jessi Brunner, 16, was traveling south on Gould Hill Rd. when a deer entered the roadway. Jessi swerved to avoid the deer and entered the ditch. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with no airbag deployment. Jessi sustained minor, non-life-threatening injury, but denied EMS. Jessi and her passenger, Abigail Mellem, 16, were not wearing their seatbelts. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

On November 17:

● At 1:56 p.m., Deputies responded to the N3600 block of State Highway 81, in the Town of Monroe, for a two-vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Dennis L. Cleaveland, 73 of Monroe was traveling northbound, when he slowed in preparation to turn. Another northbound vehicle operated by Jason M. Reamer, 37 of Monroe collided into Cleaveland’s vehicle. All occupants advised of no injuries, were wearing their seatbelts, and no airbag deployment. Both vehicles sustained functional damage and were towed from the scene. Investigation resulted in Reamer being cited for Inattentive Driving. Reamer was released pending court.


Lafayette County Sheriff

On November 2:

● 6:48 p.m. Thomas L. Hackl, 60, Shullsburg reported striking a deer on STH 81, Darlington Township. Hackl’s 2014 Ford received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. 

● 8:09 p.m. Roger N. Schwartz, 66, Shullsburg reported striking a deer on E High ST, City of Shullsburg. The 2018 Freightliner operated by Schwartz received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 9:55 p.m. Deputies responded to County Shop Road, Darlington Township for a domestic dispute. As a result, Austin J. Bates, 25, Darlington was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Damage to Property and Bail Jumping. Bates was transported to Lafayette County Jail where he was booked and remains. Darlington Police assisted.

On November 3:

● 7:12 a.m. Gabriel J Wand, 43, Dodgeville reported striking a deer on STH 126, Elk Grove Township. No injuries were reported and Wand’s 2020 Toyota received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

● 7:29 p.m. Danielle M Pickett, 37, Gratiot reported striking a deer on STH 11, Wayne Township. No injuries were reported and Pickett’s 2018 Jeep received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 7:43 p.m. Braden M Zywicki, 31, Argyle reported striking a deer on Spore RD, Argyle Township. No injuries were reported and Zywicki’s 2013 Chevrolet received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.


Monroe Police

On November 16:

● At 9:02 p.m, officers were called to the 1600 block of 9th Street for a traffic complaint regarding unsafe driving. The investigation led to the arrest of Timothy J. Lease (61), Ridgeway, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st offense, as well as being cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration greater than .15 and an unsafe lane deviation. Lease was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
