Linda Marie Scace, age 70 of Monroe, died at her home on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 following an 18 year battle with cancer. Linda was born on November 3, 1945 in Madison, the daughter of Edwin R. and Mary (Heisler) Jones. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelors' degree in Education from UW Whitewater in 1967. Linda began her teaching career in Monroe as a second grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in 1967. She temporarily taught at the mobile units of South and East Schools following the Lincoln school fire. She continued teaching at the newly rebuilt Lincoln Elementary until retiring in 2007. During her 40 years of teaching, Linda touched the lives of over 1000 second grade Monroe students. Linda married Roger Scace on May 12, 1990 at the Washington Reformation United Church of Christ in Monticello.

Linda loved the outdoors especially camping, biking, fishing, walking, golfing, gardening, and yard work. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, and quilting with her twin sister, Marcia. Linda and Roger traveled to many tractor pulls and she was always cheering for Roger and his Super M and John Deere G. In 2008, Linda and Roger began their "Winter Texan" life spending 6 months each year in Mission, TX.

Linda is survived by her husband of 26 years, Roger Scace of Monroe; her twin sister, Marcia Steffenhagen and special friend, Lloyd Hurtig, both of Kaukauna; her brother, Kent (Betty) Jones of Schaumburg, IL; three step children, Sue (Kenneth Jr.) Downs of Warren, IL, Dwight (Lori) Guillory of Gratiot, and Donna (Bill) Paige of Monroe; nine step grandchildren; and ten step greatgrandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, Beth (Tom) Maginnis of Mazomanie and Dawn (Dale) Wendt of Poynette; and nephews, Todd (Sharon) and Scott (Janine) Jones, all of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arlyn (Marti) Jones; a brother-in-law, Lauris Steffenhagen; and a close friend, Mike Dimiceli.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Randy Booth officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Monroe American Legion Post #84, 1627 12th Avenue. A private family burial will be held in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Visitation will be at the funeral Home on Friday, August 12, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Linda's name to the Monroe Clinic Hospice or Green County Humane Society. Condolences may be share at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.

Linda and her family would like to give thanks to her friends and neighbors for their continued show of support, compassion, and prayers especially Bonnie, her care giver, Shirley, and neighbors, Darrell and Bev. Her close camping friends, Jan, Kathy, Cheryl and Texas friends, Carol, Al, Jean, and Dave were always there for Linda.
