BRODHEAD - Lawrence "Larry" A. Landerholm, age 76, of Brodhead, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Woods Crossing Nursing Home following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on October 9, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the son of Charles and Gladys (Mundall) Landerholm. He married Patricia Ann Fryda on September 7, 1957 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Janesville.

Larry graduated from Milton College and was a social studies teacher at the Brodhead Junior High School, serving the Brodhead Public School System for 32 years before retiring in 1993. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan, having been drafted by the Cubs minor league organization. He also spent time with the Chicago White Sox.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary (Keith) Deremo, Brodhead, Kathleen (Richard) Anderson, Richmond, IN, Karen (Kendall) Schlittler, Sauk City, WI, Krista (Michael Quinn) Landerholm, Denver, CO; a son, Bill (Linda) Landerholm, Rockton, IL; a brother, Richard (Marie) Landerholm, Rockford, IL; and 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Patricia.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Brodhead, with Father Michael Moon presiding. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD. A memorial fund will be established.
