LaVonne C. Curran, age 67 of Monroe, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at her home, after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on March 18, 1946 in Freeport, Illinois; the daughter of Lester and Erma (Keltner) Flack. She graduated from Pearl City High School. She worked at WPS Insurance Co. as a fraud investigator in Madison for 14 years.

She is a member of Grace Lutheran Church, she was formerly involved with the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed the outdoors, sewing, baking and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her partner-in-life, Jim Benz; 2 sons: Rodney (Patrisha) Curran of Warren, IL and Mark (Tina) Curran of Monroe; 3 grandchildren: Anthony, Patrick and Benjamin Curran; 2 step-grandchildren, William and Jeffrey R. McNett; 4 step great grandchildren; a brother, LaVerne (Sylvia) Flack of Freeport, IL; a sister, Lorraine Runkle of Kent, IL; several cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 21, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport, IL. A visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 am, until the time of service, at the church. Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home is assisting the family.
