Laura (Lori) Lynn Storey

Laura (Lori) Lynn Storey, 58, Rock City, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in Monroe Clinic Hospital with her loving husband, John, by her side. Born September 21, 1949, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gordon and Carol (Fletcher) Gibbs. She was united in marriage to John D. Storey on July 3, 1971 and they celebrated 37 years of marriage together. Lori graduated from Freeport Senior High School in 1967 and later enrolled in the X-ray technician training program at Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford, Illinois, where she worked as an X-ray technician for 23 years.

In 1992, Lori and John bought a small farm near Durand, Illinois, where Lori raised her flock of sheep and started her small business she called Lori's Laughing Lambs. She made soaps, lotions, candles and hand-spun yarn from her friendly flock of sheep and angora goats. Lori loved finding a good auction where she and John bought antiques and collectibles. Lori began her second career in 2004 working in the Shirland School District special education department. She loved the students she worked with and each one profoundly touched her life. Lori and John moved from their farm in Durand in 2006 to Rock City, Illinois.

Survivors include her husband, John Storey, Rock City, Illinois; son, Eric (Jenny) Storey, Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchildren, Alyssa and Katie Storey; sister, Connie (Steve) Jenson, Oregon, Wisconsin; and brother, John Gibbs, Loves Park, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington Street, Pecatonica, Illinois, with the Reverend Clara D. Thompson officiating. Cremation rites to be accorded. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in Lori's name. McCorkle Funeral Home, 203 W.
