MADISON - Laura Belle M. Howe, age 86, passed away surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on Jan. 24, 1929, in York Township, Green County, the daughter of Alve and Rebecca (Syse) Thompson. Laura graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to A. Charles Howe on April 30, 1949 at Blanchardville Lutheran Church. They resided in Monroe until 1963, when they moved to Madison. Laura's family was an important part of her life, and she dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the joy they brought to her life. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and loved the outdoors, gardening and nature. Laura is survived by her three daughters, Carol (Thomas) Rendall, Barbara (David) Scott, and Jeanne (John) Brossard; eight grandchildren, Janine (Chris) Fucik, Brian Rendall, Christin (Mark) Parsons, Daniel Scott, Andrew (Rachel) Scott, Jordan Kolata, Joel Kolata, and Janey Kolata; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Velda) Thompson; and sister, Beverly Mickelson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and sister, Adeline Wellman. Funeral services will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, April 2, 2015, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711. Mom was a hard-working, humble Norwegian woman who gave freely of herself to her family. She will remain forever in our hearts. "The Norski woman rides again."
