EVANSVILLE - Larry D. Gransee Sr. died October 3, 2008 in Evansville. I was born 7-11-40 at the farm home, Union Township, Rock County to Harold and Evelyn (Spanton) Gransee. I had three older sisters, Phyllis (Alvin) Walmer, Helen (Raymond) Flood and Doris Bechtolt. Growing up, I worshipped the ground my grandmothers walked on. In 1957, as a member of the Evansville 4-H Dairy Club, I met DeAnn Joyce Dillree at the Rock County 4-H Fair. What a fox. Getting to know DeAnn, talking about our goals and dreams, I realized God had sent me one of his most special angels to share a life and raise a family. We became one on 5-30-59, and started our journey down our road of life. All of our four kids were born during the 60's. Watching our family grow and start their own journey, our grandchildren entering the world. Our road became bumpy and cluttered; De was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. Questions were many, answers were few. It was time to find a less traveled road, to go over our goals, to prepare for whatever the future would bring. We vowed to pray for tomorrow, to make certain "today" was the most special day of our life. We made our own special CDs, buying a video camera, taping our grandkids at the fair for De, driving school bus, holiday dinners at our home, placing music and narration on our videos, a music video of our life, De helping me make a video for her memorial service, recording a special message to each other for our last Anniversary, picking out the star we would share. I think of God as my genie and he gave me 3 very special privileges. #3 being a school bus driver, #2 sending De to share a life and raise our family, and #1 as our family joined together in our home for a last goodbye. In the early morning hours of 9-26-05, with our CDs playing softly, holding DeAnn, her sunset had been reached.
I continued down our road, making special videos for our youngest granddaughter Leia DeAnn, videos for the students on my school bus. The students became a special part of my life and I noticed so many improving their study habits and outlook for a better future. They had one thing in common, free programs for youth offered by the Eager Free Public Library, a library so loved by DeAnn. A memorial is to be set up at the library in memory of DeAnn and Larry Gransee.
I have reached my last sunset, DeAnn heard me calling, our cremains blended, today we become one for all eternity.
Survivors: three sons: Chris (Colleen) of Evansville, Marty (Shanon) of Albany, Larry, Jr. (Amber) of Oregon; one daughter: Penny (David) Kanable of Oregon; and 11 grandchildren, Aaron, Kelly and Adam Gransee, Cody and Elizabeth Kanable, Chelsie, Hunter, Leia DeAnn Gransee, Darian Moser, Autumn and Hunter Georgeson.

Last thought: DeAnn gave me the most precious gift a man will ever receive: How to see with my heart.
