Kenneth C. Rieder age 80 of Solon, Ohio, died peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Ken was born on May 14, 1934 in Monroe, the third son of William C. and Eunice (Smith) Rieder. Ken attended St. Victor's School for 8 years and graduated from Monroe High School in 1952. During his high school years he worked for his brother, William, at the Rieder Meat Market in Monroe. Ken graduated from U.W. Madison with a degree in marketing. He married Yvonne Ammann on December 26, 1956 in Madison. He began his career with General Electric in Schenectady, NY and throughout his employment in the motor and lighting divisions, Ken and his family moved to Indiana, Michigan, Texas, and Ohio. Ken's specialty was fluorescent lighting prior to retiring at GE's NELA Park in Cleveland, OH in 1991. Ken was an avid fisherman since his younger years when his father would take him to Monroe area streams...always planning to hook a trout. He especially enjoyed the annual family trip to his Aunt Edna's cabin in the woods near Eagle River, WI. Spending time on a river or lake with hopes of catching a nice fish always satisfied Ken even though that "keeper" muskie always eluded him. He tried to instill his love of fishing and the outdoors into his sons and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Yvonne Rieder of Solon, OH; three children, Katharine Rieder of Solon, OH, Kenneth C. (Joanne) Rieder of Herndon, VA, and Kirt A. (Catherine Miller) Rieder of Salem, MA. He was the proud grandfather of four, Daniel, Kimberly, and Jeffrey, and Tilda Rieder. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marie Rieder of Madison and Mary Alice Rieder of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, William and Robert Rieder.

A celebration of Ken's life was held on January 22, 2015 in Solon, Ohio. Private graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family with local arrangements.
