Joyce Priewe, age 95 of Monroe, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Rachel's Choice. She was born on October 10, 1920 in Bolton Lancs, England, the daughter of James and Alice (Walsh) Haslam. She graduated from High School and attended Secretarial College. Joyce married Elwin D. Priewe on October 6, 1945 in London, England. She worked as a short hand typist for the civil service.
She was a member of Monroe Bible Church, which Joyce and Elwin were co-founders of, and she served as a Deaconess. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and knitting; and has been active with the senior center for 30 years.
She is survived by her children: Brenda (Robert) Robinson of Benton, IL, Glenda (David) Lueck of Monroe, and Dale (Kelly) Priewe of Freeport, IL; Grandchildren: Otto Robinson, Tami (Steven) Klingaman, Dr. Mark (Maria) Lueck, Sue Ann (Allen) Laack, James, Tommy, Jacob and Sarah Priewe; great grandchildren: Blake, Alex, Christopher, Andrew, Emily, Taven and Sabastian. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elwin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 7, 2016 at Monroe Bible Church, with Pastor Dan Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Joyce's name to Monroe Clinic Hospice, Behring Senior Center or Monroe Bible Church. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
