Joseph F. Dvorak IV, 71, of Stockton, Illinois, died peacefully on December 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family from ongoing illnesses and a short, brave battle with cancer.
Joe was born February 18, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois. He married Sandra Acton, his high school sweetheart, on August 26, 1967. They moved to the Stockton area over 30 years ago.
Joe was an attorney for many years and past president of the Bohemian Lawyers Association. Joe worked and retired from Swiss Colony in Monroe, Wisconsin. He owned and operated "Porkies" restaurant and catering with his family.
Joe was always active with his children and grandchildren with hockey, wrestling, 4-H, football, soccer, gardening, fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and barbeque competitions. He made sure all of his children could cook, especially homemade pizza.
Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, four children, Joseph V (Janet); Christopher (Jeanette); Allison (David) Bauer; Aleta (Brandon) Elliot; and Andy Scherer. Grandchildren, Aaron, Colin, Jared, Olivia, Lukas, Karson, Emily, Hannah, Connor, Aleah, Austin, Arrison, Arden, Ellie Joe, Max, Auden, and Wren; his loving puppy Devin; special sister Deb (Todd) Lyons; sister Adrienne (Tom) Zalud; and brother-in-law Bruce (Dianne) Acton; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph III and Frances (Dudek) Dvorak, and sister Judith Mateljan.
The Dvorak family wishes to thank FHN Hospice nurses and staff, Linda Nobis of the JoDaviess County Senior Center, Donna Beyer and the Intouch Home Care Services (Lutheran Social Services of Illinois), the Reverend Lisa Burbank and the congregation of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church for continuing prayer and support throughout Joe's illness.
A memorial fund has been established in Joseph's name. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
