John S. "Jack" Kurth, age 66 of rural Browntown, WI formerly of Darlington, WI surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his home. He was born February 24, 1950 in Dodgeville, WI the son of Darwin and Kathryn (Thompson) Kurth. Jack was united in marriage to Cynthia J. Patterson on July 4, 2000 in Darlington. He grew up in Darlington where he lived and worked doing road construction all over Wisconsin. In 2001, he and his family moved to Monroe, WI where he retired in 2012 and later moved to rural Browntown in 2015.

Jack is survived by his wife Cindy at home; four children: Shannon (Jason) Fisher of Davis, IL, Greg (Mari) Mittelsteadt of Rockford, IL, Jeramy Calow of Madison, WI, and Michelle (Robert) Larrabee of Rockford, IL; 8 grandchildren; three brothers: Darwin "Boo" (Debra) Kurth of Hazel Green, WI, Leroy (Brenda Olson) Kurth of Madison, WI, and David Kurth of Fennimore, WI; three sisters: Mary Kurth of Madison, Carol (Edward) Stevenson of Oconomowoc, WI, and Sabra (David McNeely) Kurth of Havre de Grace, MD; brother-in-law: Allen (Jean) King of rural Shullsburg, WI; sister-in-law: Mary C. Kurth of Darlington; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: James Kurth in 1970, Timothy Kurth in 2012, and Joseph Kurth in 2013; and one sister: Kathryn King in 1999.

Jack enjoyed spending his free time outdoors hunting and fishing. He will always be remembered as a man who loved his family and cherished his duties of being a grandpa. Jack will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Park Place, Darlington) with Rev. Nick J. McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 12:00 P.M. until the time of services at the funeral home.
