John E. McDonough, age 83 of Monroe, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Monroe Manor. He was born on May 10, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois; the son of John and Irene (Negrich) McDonough Sr. He graduated from High School in Chicago, IL. John was an engineer for General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church. John loved flowers, gardening, watching birds, traveling, and riding his scooter on the bike trail. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
John is survived by his very dear friends, Linda and Tim Williams of South Wayne, and his Aster Retirement community family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke funeral home. Private family burial will be in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Chicago, IL. A memorial fund is being established in John's memory.
