John E. "Jack" Monaghan, age 94, of Monroe, died on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the New Glarus Home. He was born on May 4, 1923 in Argyle, Wisconsin the son of Eddie and Pearl (Pember) Monaghan.
John attended South Wayne High School and UW Madison Short Course for Agriculture.
John and Virginia A. Berget were united in marriage on October 26, 1956 at West Wiota Lutheran Church.
John was employed with Wisconsin Power and Light in Monroe and Dodgeville for 36 years.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his sons, Larry (Kathy) Roosli, Mike Monaghan, daughters, Vonnie Flannery, Jean (Jim) Sinkule and Mary (Bob) Schultz; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan (Lauren) Roosli, Rob (Amanda) Flannery and Robyn Flannery, Alyssa and Matthew Sinkule, and Alec and Elyse Monaghan; step-grandchildren, Erin (Paul) Salzman and Sean (Jody) Flannery; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Clarice Pehl and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank good friend and neighbor Doug Kaiser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; daughters, Cathy Jo and Linda Monaghan; brother, Chuck Montgomery; sisters, Joyce Mau, and Margie Monaghan; daughter-in-law, Deanne Monaghan; brothers-in-law, Buddy Mau, Don Pehl, Lawrence Berget and sister-in-law, Evelyn Berget-Lehman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church 1025 15th Avenue in Monroe with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in West Wiota Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 18th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe.
A Memorial fund is being established in Jack's memory.
