Jayda R. Hawkins, age 5, of Monroe died on Sunday, July 17, 2011, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 23, 2005 in Monroe, the daughter of Robert and Lori (McGinley) Hawkins. Jayda loved to draw, play with her friends and cats and just be a little girl.
Surviving are her parents, Bob and Lori Hawkins; maternal grandparents, Ron and Karen McGinley; paternal grandmother, Helen Hawkins; siblings, Brandon (Allison Spangler) Vavra, Cody Vavra, Kelsey Vavra, and Dylan Hawkins; aunts and uncles, Cheryl (Bryan) Updike, Tracy (Greg) Hawkins; cousins, Kayla and Sydney Updike; special friends, Kaitlyn, Emily, Jaryn, Bently, and Hailey. She is predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Royal Hawkins; great grandparents, Floyd and Elizabeth Buttke, Spencer and Evelyn McGinley.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Jayda's memory.
