James W. Schriver, age 88, died on Sunday, July 17, 2011. He was born on July 30, 1922 in Elroy, WI, the son of Ernest and Genevive (Farrell) Schriver. He graduated from Elroy High School, received his BS from U.W. Eau Claire, and his Masters from the University of Mississippi. James married Alice "Jo" Douglas on August 18, 1944 in Elroy. James served in the Marines in WWII; serving in the Pacific. He was a Teacher at Ithaca High School, a Principal at Royal H.S. and both a Teacher and Principal at Richland Center H.S. James enjoyed traveling, reading, sports and animals.
He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Knoke of Monroe; 3 grandchildren: Kelly Knoke of Shorewood, WI, Luke (Laura) Knoke of Ft. Wayne, ID and Nate (MaryAnn) Knoke of Middleton; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Ron (Karen) Schriver of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Robert and a sister, Bernadine Kasper.
Private services will be held at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Memorials may be given in James's name to either the Green County Humane Society or the WWII Memorial in Washington DC.
