James Lawrence "Jim" Ramsey

James Lawrence "Jim" Ramsey, son of Ardell James "Bob" and June Annette Ramsey, was born August 3, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, December 04, 2016 at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age seventy-three years, four months, and one day.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his significant other, Sue Gelderman; his children, Bob Ramsey and wife Kathy, of Burlington, Wisconsin, Bill Ramsey and wife Connie, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Kim Lyden and husband Jason, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Morgan and Myah Ramsey; the mother of his children, Kathy Ramsey, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Sue's children, Jennifer Ostrowski and husband Mark, of Chicago, John Gelderman, of Chicago, Tracey Redderoth and husband Dale, of Chicago; Sue's grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Allison, and Abbey, of Chicago; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.

Jim spent his younger years living in the St. Louis area, and was a graduate of Normandy High School of the Class of 1961. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he was a distinguished member of the ROTC. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Mizzou in 1965. Following his graduation, Jim served our country in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Captain.

Following his service in the Army, Jim started his career as a traveling auditor for Kroger Corporation. In 1977, Jim became the Chief Financial Officer for The Swiss Colony, in Monroe, Wisconsin. He served the company in that capacity for thirty-one years, retiring in 2008.

Jim spent many years vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks, an area he loved, and made it his home in 2011.

He was a member of the American Legion, Ducks Unlimited, and was very active with his two sons in the Boy Scouts of America. He had a passion for animals, especially dogs, and faithfully supported many of the local animal shelters.

Jim was an avid car enthusiast, gun collector, and loved boating on the Lake of the Ozarks. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing whenever possible.

Jim was a loving friend, father, and grandfather. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.

Memorial services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Memorial donations may be made to S.T.A.F.F. and left at the funeral home.
