Ivan L. Andrews, age 81, of rural Darlington, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. He was born June 10, 1932 in Wiota Township, WI, the son of Mervin and Mildred (Newsom) Andrews. Ivan grew up in Wiota Township and graduated from Darlington High School in 1950. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base in Oakland, CA. Ivan was united in marriage to Arlene Roper on August 17, 1953 at Darlington United Methodist Church Parsonage. He served in Okinawa as an Airplane Mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1955. Ivan returned home and began farming and doing general mechanical work in the Shullsburg and Darlington areas. He then went to work for Ruf's Farm Service in Fayette and later at the Argyle Industries, where he worked until his retirement.

Ivan is survived by his wife: Arlene at home; eight children: Allen (Ruth) Andrews of Monroe, WI, Kevin (Beth) Andrews, LuAnn (Roy) Runkle, Carla Simmons, and Bruce Andrews all of Darlington, Marsha (Kevin) Einsweiler and Scott (Deb) Andrews both of Shullsburg; and Daryl (Lynette Winchell-Moon) Andrews of rural Argyle; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one brother: Arthur Andrews of Monroe; two sisters: Evelyn Dettweiler of Wisconsin Dells, WI, and Dorothea (Ken) Rufer of Monroe; and one brother-in-law: Robert Ethridge of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter: Sheila Simmons; one grandson: Jeremy Johnson; one son-in-law: Tom Simmons; one brother: Francis Andrews; one sister: Vivian Ethridge; two sisters-in-law: Anna Mae Andrews and Lucille Andrews; and one brother-in-law: Gene Dettweiler.

Ivan was a past member of Fayette Sportsman's Club and V.F.W. Lafayette County Post #5268 of Darlington. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing the slots. Ivan especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Darlington United Methodist Church, 546 Park Place in Darlington with Rev. Larry Hakes officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington with military rites to be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Park Place in Darlington.
