Inez Marie (Buehler) Goecks

Inez Marie (Buehler) Goecks, age 98 of Monroe, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on December 30, 1917 in Monroe, the daughter of Frank and Letha Pearl (Johnson) Buehler. She attended school and graduated in the class of 1935 in Monroe. Inez married Herbert D. Goecks in 1937. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1987. In 1962 she received her B.S. from the U.W. Platteville and her M.S. in 1967. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi, an International Honor Society. She worked for many years at the United Telephone and taught in Albany, Menomonee Falls, and Monroe for 23 years.

Inez belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ, The Quilters, American Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, Retired Educators of Green County, Leyenda Reading Club, Women of the Moose and was a former treasurer of Monroe Education Assoc. In later years, she joined Green County Historical Society, National Historical Cheesemaking Center, New World Swiss Club, Swiss Attic Fanciers, and Monroe Arts Center.

She is survived by 3 children: Dennis (Ruth) Goecks of McMinnville, Oregon; Linda (William) Ison of Spotsylvania, VA, and Ann Williams of Decatur, IL; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a niece, Marian (Michael) Furgal of Monroe, who served as her local caregiver for several years; a sister-in-law, Belva Zwygart of Monroe; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert; sister, Dorothy Maurer; step-brothers, Luther and Edgar Lewis; son-in-law, Michael Williams; grandson, David Williams; granddaughter-in-law, Heather Williams.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, from 10:00 am, until the time of service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to either St. John's United Church of Christ or Monroe Clinic Hospice. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
