Ida Rubin Saunders

Ida Rubin Saunders, 99, of Monroe, Wisconsin, Syracuse/Camillus, NY, Chester, NJ, and Manassas, VA, died Sunday December 28, 2014 in Manassas. A retired teacher of English and Social Studies, she was for many years a member of Howlett Hill Presbyterian Church in Camillus. Ida graduated from UW at Platteville in 1936 and met her husband while in graduate school at UW at Madison. She left her beloved Wisconsin for Central NY where she lived for over 50 years, only departing from 1967-1975 to live in northern NJ and then again for the last 13 years of her life to be near her daughter in Virginia. Her humor and love of life will be missed by all who knew her.

Ida is survived by a son, James (Zohreh) of Tucson, AZ, and two daughters, Anne (Jerold) Stadel of Brandon, FL and Margaret Saunders of Manassas, VA as well as 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Jackson Saunders, and her son, Douglas Karl Saunders.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 7 at the Plis Funeral Home, 33 North St., Marcellus, NY. She will be buried in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
