Herman A. Heinzelman, age 93, of Monroe, died on Monday, March 17, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 12, 1920 in Monroe, the son of Carl A. and Florence (Jolliffe) Heinzelman. Herman was a Monroe High School graduate.
Herman married Irene Block on March 18, 1944 and later married Inez Schultz Mitchell on March 28, 1970 in Monroe. Herman was a supervisor at Swiss Colony for more than 40 years, retiring in 1982.
Herman was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church, Barbershop Chorus for 25 years and charter member, loved watching the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, enjoyed golfing and deer hunting. He also enjoyed going to Texas every winter and going fishing at Dellwood, his second home.
He is survived by his wife, Inez of Monroe, daughters, Cherrie Woodley of Browntown, Jackie Roen of Monroe, June (Larry) Rood of Monroe, step-daughters: Carla Pederson of Monroe, Jane (Jeff) Gibbons of Albany, brother, Henry (Lois) Heinzelman of Monroe, 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irene, 2 son-in-laws: Robert Neuenschwander and Dennis Woodley; stepson-in-law, Jerry Pederson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe.
