Helen Schindler, age 90, of New Glarus passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the New Glarus Home. She was born on March 2, 1921 to her parents William and Lucy (Foley) Crotty at South Wayne, WI. Helen graduated from South Wayne High School in 1938, and later graduated from Brown's Business College. Helen worked as a secretary/medical assistant for Dr. Marty for many years. She also worked at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe. On February 7, 1953 she was united to Sylvan A. "Pete" Schindler at Freeport, IL. Helen was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Helen is survived by her daughter Margaret Traeger-Gricus of Bloomingdale, IL, two grandchildren Erin Traeger of Bloomingdale, IL and Kevin (Libby) Traeger of Chicago, IL, a special niece who was like a second daughter Gayle (Robert) Hoaglund of Hudson, WI, a great niece Beth Hoaglund, and a niece Mary Maher. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Alice Opferman and Katherine Maher, and son-in-law Glenn Gricus.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Avenue, New Glarus, WI with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established.
