Helen Rose Markham
BRODHEAD - Helen Rose Markham, age 81, of Brodhead, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe. She was born on March 5, 1929 in Brodhead, WI, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Kueng) Gerber. She married Marshall "Danny" Markham in 1951. He passed away on October 20, 2008.
Helen graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Madison, WI, in 1950. She and her husband moved to Brodhead in 1952. She was a registered nurse for 48 years at the former St. Clare Hospital, currently the Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe, and also worked at the Independent Register Inc, Brodhead.
She is survived by three sons: Kim (Kathy) Markham, Kurt (Barb) Markham, both of Brodhead, Kent (Vicki) Markham, Oostburg, WI, two daughters, Colet (Gary) Cook, Oregon, WI, Colleen (Fred) Jennings, Lake Stevens, WA, AFS son and family, Drs. Julio and Marissa Rodriguez, Brodhead, fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Gertrude Miller, Annabel Ganshert, and a brother, Werner Gerber.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2011, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Pastor Steve Groves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church on Monday.
