Helen R. Anderson age 82 of Browntown, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at her home. Helen was born April 18, 1929 in Monroe, the daughter of Frank E. and Rose (Butts) Stubbe.

She graduated from Winslow High School in 1946 and attended Green County Normal School from 1946 to 1948. Helen and Robert M. Anderson were married on June 11, 1950 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe.

She taught rural school at Mud Hollow, Clarno, Gratiot, Woodford, and second grade and Special Education at South Wayne Elementary. Helen and Robert farmed in Winslow, South Wayne, and Browntown.

She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Browntown, where she was a church organist, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Peace Ladies Guild. Helen was an excellent cook who specialized in Lefse, homemade noodles, and buns. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Greg (Sue) Anderson of Monroe, and Leurner (Debbie) Anderson of Browntown; seven grandchildren, Amy (Blayne) Roselle, Adam (Jodi) Anderson, Chad (Heidi) Anderson, Derek Anderson, Brittany Anderson, Toni (Kathy) Elmer, and Leanne (Sean) Foster; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on July 31, 2007; and a brother, Harold Stubbe.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Peace United Church of Christ with Pastor Kay Krebs officiating. Interment will follow in Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Helen's name for the Apostolate to the Handicapped.
