Helen P. Zimmerman age 94 of Monroe, formerly of Monticello, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Helen was born July 2, 1918, in Puddledock, WI, the youngest of 12 children to Walter B. and Carolina (Grinnell) Dunlavy. She married Harold A. Zimmerman on January 31, 1945 at St. John's United Church of Christ. Helen and Harold farmed on the Zimmerman home farm in rural Monticello until retirement. Helen also worked at Bauman's Ace Hardware in Monroe and was the first female gas attendant in Green County. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold on April 14, 1997; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Reverend Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
