Helen Marie (Turk) Yurs of Monroe, WI, born January 31, 1945 in Sycamore, IL, the daughter of John and Mary (Campbell) Turk, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was laid to rest and celebrated with a memorial service at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery on December 19, 2015.
Proud mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Helen attended hundreds of football, basketball, and soccer games, along with numerous track meets and concerts through the years. She shared her love of nature, gardening, holistic health, and spiritual knowledge with her loved ones and encouraged us all to keep learning and care for our planet.
Surviving Helen are her 5 children: Amy (Tim) Verhagen of Appleton, WI; Trish (Joe) Beine of Mukwanago, WI; Jim (Karen) Yurs of Monroe, WI; Russ (Meg) Yurs of Platteville, WI; Daryl Yurs of Platteville, WI. Helen was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Melissa (Chad) Wittman, Gerrit, Krystine Verhagen; Ben, Logan, Liz and Jacque Beine; Alexa, Max and Abby Yurs; and, Josie, Zave and Zeke Yurs. She is also survived by her sister Mary (Jim) Seyller, and her brothers Steve (Peg) Turk, Jeff (Lynne) Turk, Matt (Sheri) Turk, and Tom Turk.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Campbell) Turk, her sister, Kathleen Wiese, and her brother, John Turk.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Helen as a mother and grandmother, and to acknowledge her strength of character during illness, her family asks that memorial contributions be made to One Generation or The Livestrong Foundation. One Generation is a nonprofit Helen was proud of, founded by her granddaughter, Dr. Melissa Wittman, as an educational resource empowering women's health during reproductive years, because healthier moms make healthier babies.
