Harvey C. White, age 84 of Blanchardville, died on Monday evening, February 25, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe. He was born on August 28, 1923 in Fayette, Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, to Lewis and Alma (Thompson) White. He grew up between Fayette and Waldwick on the family farm. He attended the Georgetown country school, and graduated from the Darlington High School in 1941. After graduation he started farming with his father. Harvey worked several jobs after leaving the farm, including Swiss Colony in Monroe, American Breeders Service in De Forest, the Bredeson Feed Mill in Blanchardville, Trumpy Cheese in Blanchardville, and Barber-Coleman, an electric motor company, in Darlington. He was married on July 1, 1967 in the Blanchardville Lutheran parsonage to Helen (Ayen) Jeglum. Harvey was a member of the York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. He was an avid reader. Harvey loved visiting with people and enjoyed drives in the country.
Harvey is survived by one son, Gary (Sandy) Jeglum of Blanchardville; one sister, Shirley (Doug) Mullen of Madison; three granddaughters, Brenda Knapp of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Linda (Dan) DeBaere of Loves Park, Illinois, and Debra (Tim) Homola of Barrington, Illinois; five great-grandchildren, Shaun and Kristin Knapp, Ryan Hansen, and Julia and Lana Homola; five great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Karla (Rodney) Jacks of Benson, AZ, and Vietta (Jim) Kampen of Portage. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen White who died on September 5, 2006; a sister who died in infancy; and a niece, Lisa Mullen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville at the intersection of highways 78 and 39. Rev. Mark Gruner and intern Tim Koester of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the York Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday evening, March 2, 2008 at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
