Harold Flood

BARRINGTON, Ill. - Harold Flood, age 89, died on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Alden Estates in Barrington, IL. He was born on May 16, 1919 in Brooklyn, WI, the son of Martin and Hannah (Gallagher) Flood. Harold attended the Jug Prairie School and the Holy Hill Seminary. He served with the 2nd Marine Div. of the United States Marine Corps during World War II from 1942-1946. Following his discharge from the Marine Corps Harold served as a Chicago Police officer for 30 years. In 1953 Harold was united in marriage to the former Mary Jean Rigney at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville, WI. Harold was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Albany. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the American Legion, and the Albany Historical Society.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Maureen Flood of Barrington, IL; a son, Kevin (Ursula) Flood of Lake in the Hills, IL; and five grandchildren, Sheila and Shannon Amiry and Katherine, Stephanie, and Timothy Flood; a brother-in-law, Joseph Veith; a sister-in-law, Lois Flood; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean; a son, Patrick; parents; brothers, Martin J., Raymond, Gordon J., and Ralph; sisters, Bernadine Flood, Pearl Veith, and Gertrude Mosher.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 410 E. State St., Albany, WI with Father Michael Moon officiating with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at St. Patrick's Church, 410 E. State St., Albany, WI and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the church.

A memorial fund has been established.
